I went to the Luneng restaurant nearby for lunch, and there was a mobile Library bus parked in the square, which was a bit of a novelty. I also made a point of getting on the bus after lunch to experience it, several people were returning their books. Now that conditions are better and books can be delivered to the door, how hard the Pudong library is trying to facilitate and encourage people to read more!
In the age of short videos crushing over the world's media, today, how many people can find the time to take a moment, settle down, and read with a paper book? We all know that reading is beneficial, and it is more convenient to read e-books on cell phones. When you pick up your phone, though, the distractions of various messages make it hard to get into immersive reading. Recently, I read a passage from Singaporean scholar Zheng Yongnian: “China will soon face an era of total retardation because of the rapid rise of short videos, whose biggest consequence is to let a group of low-educated, low-quality, bottomless people become the mainstream of public opinion, and to let rumors, hatred, and hostility replace truth, justice, and civility.” I think this passage is really deafening and worth thinking about.
The external factors that affect us to calm down and read more books are not only external interference when reading on phones, but also the fact that e-books are now too easy to obtain. Paid subscriptions, free downloads, usually, if you want to find a book, you can find it in various ways on the Internet. So we may become hamsters, when we find a good book, we download and collect it first. As for which day to read and how to read, find time to read it again later.
Of course, these two factors also affected me. In order to change it, I moved many of the e-books stored on my phone into the NAS. Decide which one to read and import it into your phone, so there's always only one book on your phone that you haven't read. I set myself a reading plan to read for at least one hour a day, put it on my daily reminder on my phone, complete the task, and clock in on my phone to finish. The book app that comes with the iPhone is very comprehensive and efficient, and supports e-books in epub and pdf formats. It can set the number of books read each year, how many books have been read, which ones, the daily reading time goal, how much time has been read today, and the number of days in a row to complete the planned reading time. According to this method, my reading efficiency has improved significantly, and I can also see my reading achievements, so I recommend using it!
